LifeReady

Middle School

Students who have spent time learning how to be authentic and personable will grow into young leaders with ideas, dream, and plans. LifeReady in Middle School meets students at the beginning of Grade 7, guiding and preparing them for Grade 9. These are years of transition and self-actualization, along with great physical and emotional change. Our Middle School teachers understand the preteen learner, know how to motivate and engage them in their learning and incorporate LifeReady skills into their daily routines. We work to establish good work/study habits based on thoughtful discussion and achievable goal setting.

Teachers focus on the end goal of ensuring each student is ready to be successful in Upper School. Staff provide personalized learning support, life coaching, learning skills, relationship building skills, and personal well-being/coping skills. We guide students on their path to independence and self-actualization where their hopes and dreams can be realized. We teach them how to stay focused, mark smart/safe decisions, and navigate a digital world full of unhealthy distractions.

Students will not only become more self-aware, but have opportunities to develop their personal skills and toolsets. This includes learning how to deal with conflicting ideas, disappointments, and the complexities of peers as the independence of adulthood begins to become a focus. We hone our guidance and coaching approach to look at the future, real world/transferable skills and the qualities necessary for successful relationships (both personal and professional)

We use our Upper School Guidance model and success backtracking to get students thinking about possible career paths while still in Middle School. Having Grade 9 teachers in house, we work with them to ensure our LifeReady program prepares students for Grade 9 over the two years in middle school.

No public school can offer a smoother transition into Grade 9. We ensure a seamless transition by making sure students have the curriculum and personal skills necessary for success in Upper School. We continue to focus on study habits and learning preparedness, while also managing the complexities of growing up, in a nurturing and supportive way

Most elementary school are interested in graduating students at the end of Grade 6 or Grade 8. At InnovOak School, students remain with us and continue their learning journey. We are fully invested in each student’s success for their entire school career and are committed to their long-term success as they transition into Middle School or Upper School. This focus ensures we remain accountable to our students and our parents. We want our teachers to collaborate with one another and invest in every student’s success, like a familiar community.

LifeReady in Middle School looks forward to ensure the goals, hopes, and dreams of each student begin to take shape as they prepare for tomorrow.
